Servings: 4
Difficulty rating: 1
Ingredients:
1 Large onion, cut into 3/4" long strips
Salt, dash
1 Pound ground beef
Willies Hog Dust (or similar seasoned salt)
Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon butter
1 Teaspoon vegetable oil
Buns
Sliced cheese, optional
Special tools/utensils needed:
Directions:
Season onions with a sprinkle of salt and leave in a bowl to sweat for about 30 minutes. Pat dry after 30 minutes with a paper towel.
While onions are sweating, add Willies and Worcestershire sauce to ground beef. Divide into four, equally sized balls and let rest in the refrigerator for ~ 10 minutes or until you are ready to make patties with the hamburger and onion.
Add oil and butter to a pan on medium heat.
Spread onions into 4 small piles and mash one of the beef balls on top of each pile so the onions adhere to the bottom of the pattie.
Heat burgers (onion side down) for about 15 minutes.
Flip the burgers and turn the heat up to high for 2 -3 minutes to finish cooking.
Remove the burgers from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
