Ingredients:
8 slices day-old bread, cubed
1/4 cup butter
2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cups cooked ham, diced
4 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
8 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
2 Tablespoons prepared mustard
1 Teaspoon salt
Special tools/utensils needed:
9”x13” casserole dish at least 2” deep
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350
Place bread cubes in a buttered casserole dish.
Melt butter over low heat in a skillet; add the mushrooms and onion and sauté until tender. Spoon mushroom mixture over bread cubes. Top with the ham.
Combine cheese and flour, sprinkle over ham.
Combine eggs, milk, mustard, and salt in a small mixing bowl; beat until foamy. Pour egg mixture over the cheese layer.
Cover tightly, chill overnight.
Remove from the refrigerator 1/2hour before baking. Uncover, bake at 350 degrees for 45 - 60 minutes.
