French Toast Bake

Description: This is one of those great put together-the-night-before recipes. Add a breakfast/brunch protein and you’re set!
Prep time: 10 minutes, plus overnight
Total time: 1 hr 15 minutes, plus overnight

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Butter, melted
1 cup Brown sugar, packed
1 loaf thick-sliced Bread, preferably English Muffin bread (Publix)
4 Eggs
1 1/2 cups Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Cinnamon
Powdered sugar
Maple syrup
Special tools/utensils needed:
9 inch by 13 inch glass pan, spoon, aluminum foil
Directions:
Melt butter and add to brown sugar.
Pour into a glass pan.
Beat eggs, milk and vanilla.
Lay single slices of bread on brown sugar mixture.
Spoon 1/2 egg mixture on bread. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
Add the second layer of bread.
Spoon remaining egg mixture on top.
Cover with aluminum foil and chill overnight.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil after first 30 minutes.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Serve with warm maple syrup and/or fresh berries.
