Description:
A great use of leftover ham but also works with fresh ham
Prep time: 5 min plus overnight soak
Cooking time: 8 hours
Servings: 8
Difficulty rating: 2
Ingredients:
1 Package (16 ounces) dried beans (Navy beans, pinto beans, speckled butter beans or your personal preference)
Chopped ham (leftover ham bone or 1 ham steak cut in cubes).
Salt and Pepper to taste
1 Clove of garlic or to taste
Special tools/utensils needed: Crock Pot or Dutch oven
Instructions:
Wash beans off & place in water overnight or for a couple of hours. Rinse and place in container for cooking. I usually use either a dutch oven or crock pot.
To the container add chopped ham, salt, pepper and a dash of garlic. Cover well with water.
If using a dutch oven, bring to a boil and then simmer on low heat until beans are tender
If using a crock pot, place on high it will take several hours to cook this way. I usually start first thing in the morning. Once the beans are bubbling, may turn to low heat.
