Shoney's Strawberry Pie

Description: It was a yearly tradition for Susan and Marilyn to go to the Nutcracker and was always followed by a stop at Shoney's for a piece of strawberry pie.

Ingredients:
1 pie shell, cooked
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of water (can substitute with Sprite or 7up)
1 quart of strawberries cut in half
3-4 tablespoons of cornstarch
whipped topping
Special tools/utensils needed: large sauce pan
Directions:
Cook the pie shell according to directions.
In a large saucepan cook sugar, water, 1 cup of strawberries, and cornstarch over medium heat until clear.
Remove the saucepan from heat. Let the pie shell and filling cool.
Add remaining berries to the filling. Put the filling in the cooked crust. Refrigerate until the filling is chilled and set.
Top with your favorite whipped topping just before serving.
